Yours truly performing "Buffalo Girls" with Alasdair and Catriona Campbell at their home in Kingskettle, Scotland August 2006. I am godfather to this lovely couple's son Niall. Alasdair and I can trace our long association way back to high school in Dunfermline. We once tried to get a band going in my dad's garage when my parents were away on their summer holidays leaving me in the care of my ailing and hard of hearing grandmother. However, she had her hearing-aid volume control turned full-up one day, and it was totally blown out of her poor old ear as we launched into a hellishly-loud and completely unrecognizable version of Rory Gallagher's Bullfrog Blues . Gran called a halt to proceedings and unsurprisingly, we were in big trouble after that...the Armstrong-Campbell Blues Brothers Collective was never heard of or seen again. Nowadays, Alasdair and Catriona spend their holidays climbing mountains, eating and drinking heartily and jamming(quietly!) in pubs with local musicians wherever they go. Two of the finest people I am privileged to know.
