Seu-uh Sooay (The Beautiful Shirts) Unplugged and Unbuttoned!
photo

Saturday 10th February 2007 saw the first live appearance of Seu-uh Sooay since May 2005 at Noriega's Music Bar, somewhat of an anomaly, being the only non-gay bar in Silom Soi 4, Bangkok.  After running a jostling gauntlet of pretty, pretty boys admiring their beautiful shirts, and threading their way gingerly through the maze of equipment belonging to the other two bands on the bill, the band took to the cramped stage on a typically very hot and sweaty downtown Bangkok night.  Derek (guitar and vocals), Mike (vocals and percussion) and Richard (bass and youthful good looks) hammered out a short acoustic set comprising: Mrs Robinson, Wishing I Had a Photograph of You, Wonderwall, Clocks, Som Sarn, I'm a Believer.

At the end of a blistering set that left the band as leading contenders for the "Mr Wet Shirt" contest at a nearby boy bar, they retired for a quiet soda against a backdrop of appreciative applause from an enthusiastic but clearly drunk audience.

The previous evening, the band, including the hugely talented violinist Laisha Beckwith, auditioned for an upcoming Thai Channel 5 music program. We await results with fingers, toes and eyes crossed!
